Dear Freshwater Family,

I believe God calls people to seasons of ministry. Sometimes, at the beginning of that season, it’s difficult to see or know how long it will last. My Ministry at Freshwater Community Church has been the most thrilling, rewarding and fulfilling work that I have done up to this point in my life. However, I believe my season of ministry at Freshwater in the capacity of Executive Pastor has come to a close. I have accepted a position as Chief Operating Officer of Rhino Media and will begin a new career with that company, effective October 1. I will be available on a consultant basis to help finish selected projects through December 31.

The timing may seem strange to you. Honestly, I felt the same way at first. I entered sabbatical this summer neither looking for a change nor expecting one - certainly not one of this magnitude! God works on a much larger level, though, and He unexpectedly presented me with a path into a new season of life. I believe this new opportunity will be good for me, for my family and for our church.

With the acquisition of our amazing building, the launch of our community life center and the completion of our first major building project, Freshwater Church enters a new and exciting chapter of God’s story. Freshwater is filled with very talented and spirit-led people who are more than capable of carrying our church into the next frontier of advancing the Gospel and building God’s kingdom. This is God;s Church and He will continue to faithfully go before us as He has always done.

It is both my and my family’s desire to remain an active part of Freshwater. This has been our church for 14 years - not just my employer. I know there will be challenges for myself and the body in making a transition from Pastor to parishioner. But with God’s grace and help, I hope to make that transition as quickly and smoothly as possible. I’m so grateful to God, our great staff and this entire church for the profound privilege to have served as your Executive Pastor. I will continue to support, cheerlead and pray for this incredible church that God has built and placed in our community for His purpose.
